News & Updates!!

Welcome to Adventures through Elidoris, a Free Form Role Playing Community! Please take a moment to browse over our site. Valuable information for all players abounds.

Players should stay up to date on the Community Etiquette for these forums! This is the responsibility of each player.

ATTENTION TO ALL ROLEPLAYERS CURRENTLY POSTING...forum wide role plays that should be considered by players in current RP are as follows:

All visitors and traffic have been diverted to and must stop at the Imperial Gates for entrance into the Empire of Elidoris and passage into T’Gatherin its Capitol City
By order of The Lady Asteria Vastrunez.

Winter will be tough as it decends upon the lands this year. A slight harvest was hampered by the lack of availble farmers to reap their crops, while men young and old are off fighting in the blood pass to secure the northern borders from all manner of monster.

Notices have been seen throughout the city.
FIGHTERS GUILD FOR HIRE-Looking for recruits! Seek the Guild Master down in the Arena.

There have been more thefts in the lands as of late and rumors of a THIEVES GUILD have begun to circulate through out the Market. Even some shady characters have been seen loitering around the Port and Ale.

A PLAGUE has spread throughout the city. Its origins still unknown have made it difficult to discover a cure or effectively treat the infected. Those infected citizens or guests should proceed to the Temple and seek aide at the infirmary.

These are on going Empire wide events that would be noted by general public in the entire city. Post accordingly in the specified RP threads. Enjoy!!!

There are essentially two types of characters. MORTAL and IMMORTAL! Elidoris resides in the Material Plane and therefore the characters played here will usually be mortal.

MORTAL RACES though some are very long lived, by mortal we mean beings which have a body of flesh that may ultimately perish.Mortal characters that weild or perform magic derive their power from a latent power bestowed to them that CoiaOntar intended to develop over millenia of evolution. This power is directly proportionate with the individuals intelligence, willpower, wisdom and stamina. The most powerful wizards have learned to channel this power, while wild talents are the more common occurance.

Elves were the first humanoid mortals created by CoiaOntar. These tend to be extremely long lived, tall and slender people with slightly pointed ears. The High elves are fair in coloring and have a greater depth of knowledge especially regarding magic.. They are extremely wise and have immense will power and as such have a higher resistance to magic and mind control as opposed to humans. Elves are immune to all diseases, and they can recover from wounds which would normally kill a mortal Man. However, Elves can be slain, or die of grief and weariness and are most often only outlived by Dragons. Their appearances may differ slightly based on the clan they hail from. Many types of elves have diverged from the original Elves (High Elves), including are of course wood elves, drow elves(dark skinned and shorter), sea elves etc. Elves may live beyond 1000 years if motivated to do so.

Dragons: Dragons were the first non humanoid creature created by CoiaOntar and though especially long lived they too will perish in much the same manners as do elves. Dragons fall into two categories. True dragons are dragons which increase in power by age categories. True dragons are further divided into three main categories: chromatic dragons, such as green and black dragons, which are evil-aligned; metallic dragons, such as gold and silver dragons, which are good; and neutral-aligned gem dragons, rare creatures that possess psionic abilities. True dragons are rare and live quite removed from civilization usually, they tend to live no more than 20,000 years. Lesser dragons do not improve in age categories and lack all of the abilities of true dragons, even that of higher intelligence. These dragons however are clever and cunning and unparalleled hunters. Examples of lesser dragons include dragon turtles, wyms, and wyverns. Lesser dragons are more prevalent in the lands and live m uch shorter lives, no more that usually 5, years.

Dwarves were the second mortal race created. Dwarves are short and stocky in build, again longer lived than men. They are a resilient race, stubborn and secretive, perhaps why they are often found living removed from the rest of the races. They prefer to live high in the mountains and for this reason are highly skilled at working the metals and stones found there. They are also capable of seeing in the dark for up to 50 feet. A proud and stern race, they are quick to learn new skills and thrive in the harsh climates of the Hills. Dwarves thus have a natural tendency to be resistant to illness and disease and make for some of the fierest fighters. They often live well past 500 years.

Men Were the last mortal race created and are most common in the day and age during which our role play takes place. Men vary more than any other race, ranging in appearance, ability and intellect. They are the shortest lived race however averaging usually less than 100 years, with only rare exceptions.

Other various races exist as well and we leave this open to your own imagination. (Halflings, Orcs, Goblins, fairies, gnomes, Trolls, Giants, Mermaids, Centaurs, Griffans) many a manner of plant and animal may be used within the mortal world. Mortal races with very few exceptions will not post in the other planes of reality.

IMMORTAL beings, those that exist mainly on the other planes of reality outside the material plane (Mortal World), are limited to approved players. Innate supernatural abilities are derived from their own life force energy. ( What humans call magic) Please seek assistance from admin when requesting to play a character of this nature. These would include :

CoiOntar: This role may not be played! It is the role of GOD the ultimate creator. He alone may ultimately destroy Godlings. He has as well placed a restriction on the interference of Godlings with his Mortal Creations. This divine mandate is often disregarded however by the more evil aligned godlings and their minions causing other good aligned godlings to step in, Hence the Wars of Rivalry.

Godlings: these are what most would consider lesser gods or demi-gods. They were created by CoiaOntar and may only be destroyed by CoiaOntar, as they is no being greater in play here. Should you be INVITED to play this sort of character please adhere to the posting guidelines and information shared with you by the staff on playing this role. Godlings with few exceptions will mainly post in the planes forum allowing their followers to directly affect the Mortal World. All goldings have innate abilities and defenses or immunities. Of these, all godlings have psionic abilities and often communicate with others as well as each other in telepathic and other supernatural ways. Many godlings take on more than one form and are capable of altering the illusion of their bodily selves quite easily. Godlings can not be harmed by physical attacks originating from mortals unless they are of course in mortal form, and even heal rapidly. When inmortal form they are stronger in mind and body that celestials or demons and are beyond compare when it comes to that of mortals. Godlings exist outside the time frame of mortals and therefore time altering effects have no affect on them, and may travel through varoius planes at will. However when upon these planes they like all beings succumb to the laws of creation of the planes. Godlings hear every prayer and curse called out in their name. Their overall influence is determined by the number of their believers and the intensity with which they believe. By divine mandate set down my CoiaOntar, they are forbidden to directly interact with the mortals, though some godlings refuse to respect this wish. Punishment from CoiaOnatr results often in banishment to other planes of reality and even temporary mortality.

Celestials: Or angels were also given birth to by CoiaOntar and are limited in number by only he, though this was after his Godlings, and are lesser beings than godlings in power and ability. These beings may be of good or evil alignment or even a mix of the two, depending on which godling they have chosen to follow or if they chose to follow none, becuase celestials were granted free will. Celestails have no need or desire to breed amongst themselves though there are the occasional half breed occurances, when a celestail has affairs with a mortal race. Celestials may travel freely between planes including the Mortal world due to a innate phsycoporative abilties. They have an innate aptitude for telepathy and use it as a major means of communication. Celestials have immense power compared to that to of mortals and even some immortals, but their potential is no match for a godling. They have inherant aptitude for darkvision and resistence to physical damage, acid, cold, and electricity.

Greater Dragons: Of the most powerful non humanoid creatures CoiaOntar created, Greather Dragons are second only to Him and the godlings, and were equally created and loved as were the celestials. Greater Dragons are the original 13 dragons created by CoiaOnatr, from these 13 all dragons descend (True dragons which include Chromatic Dragons, metallic Dragons, and Gem Dragons as well as lesser dragons such as wyverns and drakes and wyrms). Greater Dragons have all the abilities found separately in the other known dragons species’, such as both lethal and non lethal breathes, intelligence, psionics, planar travel, use of human form, draconic magic and are immortal as are the celestials. Greater Dragons however are rare, many of these wondferul creations have been destroyed by the goldings in their wars of rivalry, because they have throughout time been manipulated by godlings to do their bidding and thus bring about their own destruction.

Demons/Devils: These are abominations to the natural order of life. Creatures horrific in nature, they are created by evil aligned godlings, most often of the evil persuasion though there are at times exceptions to this. (Demons which have discovered the light and even half breeds which chose their own path.) They may be as simple minded as their golding deams necessary for whatever task, or even be granted some basic free will. And are usually strong and cunning and come in various forms, though they often lack actual wisdom or intelligence though tend toward fulfillment of desire by impulsive means.. Demons often enter the mortal world on the whim of their godling to defy CoiaOntar’s Mandate and seek to inflict harm upon the mortal world. Demons too have supernatural abilties innate to their race, physcoporation and telepathy . Innate resistences to electricity, poisons, cold, acid, and fire. Though powerful enough to some times thwart even the strongest mortal wizrd a demons potential power will be hard prersssed when dealings with other immortal beings. A godling can smite even the most powerful demon with ease.

Spirits: These are the souls of deceased mortal races. When they body dies the soul returns to abide with the godling that it followed most closely.

Character Limitations

1. Separation of Self from character is vitally important. Please draw a distinct line between your character and yourself, keep your IN character (IC) feelings and emotions strictly in text post and do not confuse them with your own OUT of character (OOC) feelings or thoughts. REMEMBER the posts in your role plays are directed to your character, not at you personally. Your character is just that, a fictional character like in any good novel or movie, keep this in mind. The trials, and tribulations the joys and sorrows of your character are not yours. We are playing a game.

2. Approval . Prior to roleplaying players must submit their character creation sheets for approval in the House of Stories forum. Admins may ask players to edit or change anything in the character creation sheet that does not meet the community guidleines or standards. Upon approval characters may immediately begin roleplaying. Players are limited to a maximum of 5 characters for roleplay purposes. many more than this we have found, stretches aplayer to thin and causes undue to stress. Exceptions to this must be discussed with admins.

3. Absences You have a responsibility to yourself and the others involved in role plays with you, to notify them of your absence if need be. If you must depart from a role play for a time let those you role play with know. Your extended absences, such as more than a week, can be noted to others by a courteous post in the Out of Character Forums or a personal message (PM) to the players involved in your role play.

4. Separate CCS While an individual account on our forums is not necessary for each character. A separate character creation sheet IS required for each character. You may register for a free account on our forums page.

5. Do NOT Control Others Interact with other characters do not control their actions. Each player controls their own character and players should never state, write or determine another player's actions, thoughts, or feelings.

6. Do NOT control NPC’s. Non played Characters are created and controlled by Admin Staff and Forum Moderators. It is their job to set the scenes and encourage role play by acting the part of the Imperial guard or temple healer. Special NPC accounts are used for this at times or often you may see a staff memeber using "NPC POST" somewhere in their reply to you. These are staff created NPC's and may NOT be controlled. These are used to enhance roleplay and plot development by bringing it in a certain direction.

Does this mean you can not add other characters to your stories, plts and roleplays? No of course not, you may add these elemnets to your stories however you must realize that becasue the sroleplay is a collaboratively written story this character you add or elemnt that you use tospice up your story, may be controlled by another writer/player. An example would be a drunk lying in a street. You can say you go up to him and cover him in a blanket and give him money and have him thank you with a nice smile but then another player can come in and roleplay his next actions or thoughts as well.

7. Character Deaths. These must be coordinated between players. Always discuss situations in which your character is either making a character kill or being killed. Compromise to achieve an end to story that is acceptable to all players involved.

8. Signature Use. Custom signatures used to depict your characters must be kept tasteful. No images showing the nipple or genitalia will be tolerated. No pornographic images or images of explicit sexual acts of any kind are allowed. Signature size must be kept reasonable as well. The general size for signatures is approximately 400 pixels wide by 200 pixels high. We prefer file size not exceed 150 KB and that you keep text above or below your siggy at no more than 5 lines. Some deviation in pixel size or file size is allowed with prior consent from a community staff member. Please remember that an admin can ask you to alter your signature at any time if the size or content is unsuitable. Resizing can be done on most images if you just ask for help. Help for various image problems can be found in our Image Help Forums.
